Applications for Planning Permission
Planning applications are primarily dealt with by the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) because the Parish is located within the National Park. Most standard applications, such as householder extensions and new builds, are handled by Chichester District Council acting as the “host authority” to process and investigate these cases locally on the SDNPA’s behalf. West Sussex County Council handles applications related to waste, minerals, and their own developments, e.g., schools, libraries.
The Parish Council is consulted on all applications in the parish but does not have the power to either approve or deny applications, but can support, object with reasons or make “No comment”. The applications are considered at each Parish Council meeting held on the second Thursday of each month after which responses are sent to SDNPA.
Information on planning applications can be viewed through the SDNPA’s Public Access System. Enter the planning application reference number into the search box, or search using other criteria, e.g. ’24/00334′ or ‘Stedham’.
Planning Meetings
Planning Applications will normally be considered during SIPC Ordinary Meetings which are held on the second Thursday of each month(excluding August) in the Stedham Memorial Hall starting at 7:00pm. A separate Planning Meeting is only convened when the deadline for responses falls before the next scheduled Parish Council Meeting
Meetings are open to the press and public. Members of the public are free to raise any issues of concern.
